JAKEDA starts week long mega solar Expo

Jammu: Thee Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Energy (JAKEDA), Science & Technology Department on Friday started a weeklong mega solar Expo till March 2 at Bahu Plaza Complex, Jammu.

The event has been managed by JAKEDA in collaboration withmultiplevendors of RE industry and other line Departments of the JammuandKashmir(UT). The Expo was inaugurated by Sh. Saurabh Bhagat CommissionerSecretary to Government, Science & Technology Department todayon24February,2023 in presence of Sh. Pankaj Mangotra Vice Chairman,JammuDevelopment Authority (JDA), Dr. P. R. Dhar, CEOJAKEDA, Officersfrom Horticulture Department, Agriculture Department, Engineers fromJammu Power Development Corporation (JPDCL) and other dignitaries. There was an enormous participation from people fromacross the society. Commissioner/Secretary apprised the gathering about the variousbenefits extended by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE, GoI) and Government of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) under Grid ConnectedRooftop Solar (GCRT-SPV) and PM-KUSUMSchemes. TheCommissioner/Secretary informed that under GCRT-SPVwhichentailsacollective subsidy of 65% the Domestic Consumers of DISCOM’scanoffset their monthly electricity bills under Net- Metering mechanismandunder PM-KUSUM Scheme which is primarily meant for upliftment offarmers, the farmers can install subsidized Solar Powered Pumps upto10HP capacity, for irrigation of their farmlands with a choice of AC/DCsurface and submersible pumps. The Commissioner/Secretary was impressed on interactionwithvarious vendors during the review of the stalls established by firmsfordisplay of their RE products and advised JAKEDA to procure suchdevisesfor display in the Science Centers being established by S&TDepartment. In the Expo around 29 exhibitors from across the countryhavedisplayed their RE products/technologies. The J&K Bank, PunjabNationalBank and the Agriculture Department also participate in the event toshowcase their customer friendly schemes and programmes. BroadlytheJammu Solar Expo will allow showcasing Solar PVproducts totheprospective consumers and information related to the advantages of thetwo Solar based Schemes i.e. Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Power Plantand Solar Pumps (PM-KUSUM) being presently implemented intheUT by JAKEDA wherein targets of 200 MW cumulative capacity and10000Numbers, have been respectively allocated to JAKEDA. Both the schemeshave been heavily incentivized by the Ministry as well as the J&KUTinorder to make it viable for common masses. Predominantly the Expo is geared towards the expandingRooftopSolar and utility-scale PV technologies and to accommodate emergingtrends in various grid connected technologies parallely creatingadequateawareness amongst the masses. The main focus is towards transitiontoaclean energy based economy, since the technological breakthroughs inREsector have brought down the cost of energy generation to recordlows, along with favorable policy and regulatory environments. The event isaimed to bring together industry professionals in community solar projectdevelopment and tackling the opportunities in the field
