Chances of opening the thoroughfare in next few hours remain scant, a traffic department official here said.

The strategic highway was blocked around midnight due shooting stones at Panthyal, the official said. “The shooting stones still continue. Also clearance work was hampered due heavy rainfall in the area” he said, adding, “People are advised to undertake journey on the highway only after confirming status of the road from TCUs.”

Asked if the thoroughfare would open in next few hours, the official said: “Efforts are underway but opening of the highway immediately seems unlikely. People as such should confirm status of the road before starting the journey.”
