The traffic department said that thoroughfare was blocked due to shooting stones at Rampadi in Banihal area of the district early on Wednesday morning. Sources said a major slide occurred near Rampadi, leading to the closure of the strategic highway.

“The highway is still closed,” a traffic department official said, adding, “After clearance of debris and halt in shooting stones, traffic will be released.” The highway reopened last evening after remaining closed for two days due to shooting stones and mudslide besides snowfall at several places along the thoroughfare.
