Srinagar, Sep 26: A Jash-e-Mohammad militant was killed and three persons, two civilians and an army soldier, were injured in a gunfight in Kulgam district of south Kashmir on Monday, police said.

“One militant identified as Abu Hurarah, a foreign Pakistani (militant) linked with proscribed outfit JeM, was killed,” : ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said as per a tweet by police. “Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including AK rifle recovered,” the police said.

Police said two civilians and a soldier were injured in the gunfight at Batpora area of the district.  All the three injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment, it said.

Earlier Police said that joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Batpora area of Kulgam following specific information about the presence of the militants.

As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, police said, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off the gunfight.
