Srinagar: Advocating opening of all traditional routes and making borders soft, National Conference president Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Monday asked India and Pakistan to shun stubbornness and start unconditional dialogue to resolve all issues including Kashmir.
While addressing a public rally at Keran in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Farooq questions both the neighbours that for how long tension and bloodshed shall continue on Line of Control and borders in Jammu and Kashmir.
“For how long shall there be loss of precious lives? For how long shall nears and dears have to wait to meet each other?” asked Farooq, the former three time chief minister of the state.
Farooq, who is on 4-day tour to north Kashmir district, said that India must understand that people of Jammu and Kashmir are masters of their own fate and they can’t be deprived of their constitutional and legal rights through muscle power.
“(India) can neither suppress our voice,” he said and demanded autonomy for both parts of Jammu and Kashmir on either side of LoC.
“People of entire Jammu and Kashmir are trapped in animosity of India and Pakistan and by through ‘bloody line’, thousands of people have been separated from nears and dears,” Farooq said and urged both India and Pakistan to shun stubbornness and start unconditional dialogue to resolve all issues including Kashmir.
Expressing serious concern on conspiracies against Article 370 and 35A of Indian constitution, Farooq said that nobody would be allowed to change the Muslim majority status of Jammu and kahsmir. He also expressed serious concern on non-availability of electricity and other basic facilities to people of Jammu and Kashmir.
