Pall Of Gloom In Bijbhera As MBBS Student’s Body Reaches Home

Srinagar, Sept 9: A pall of gloom descended Katoo Bijbhera sin south Kashmir’s Anantnag district as body of the MBBS student reached from Bangladesh this evening.

The female MBBS student, Khushboo Manzoor daughter of Manzoor Ahmad of Katoo Bijbhera, died on Wednesday, some hours after she fell off from the terrace of Khwaja Yunus Ali Medical College hostel where she was studying in Bangladesh.

As the body reached the home, most people were inconsolable, more so the women who were see wailing. Hardly there was any soul who was not crying, locals said.

Earlier a flight carrying the corpse left from Bangladesh at around 10:30 a.m. and reached IGI Airport Delhi at 12:30 this afternoon.

“The body reached Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport in Srinagar this evening and immediately it was taken in an ambulance kept stand by by the district administration along with staff,” officials said.

Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr. Basharat Qayoom said that the authorities made concerted efforts throughout to see the arrival of body from Bangladesh at the earliest. “Jammu and Kashmir administration, Ministry of External Affairs, Indian High Commission and several other offices intervened in the matter to make sure the medico-legal formalities were conducted in a shortest possible time to and that body reaches as soon as possible,” he said.

Resident Commissioner New Delhi, he said, coordinated continuously along with other officers involved in return of the body.

He said Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary Higher Education and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir personally intervened and monitored the process at various levels to ensure mortal remains reach back to the residence of the deceased girl at an earliest.
