J&K Reports 229 Covid-19 Cases, 2 Deaths

Srinagar, Aug 25; Jammu and Kashmir reported 229 fresh covid-19 cases while two persons succumbed to the virus during the last 24 hours, officials said on Thursday.

They said that 41 cases were reported from Jammu division and 188 from Kashmir Valley, taking the overall tally to 476932. Among the cases, 173509 are from Jammu division and 303423 from Kashmir Valley.

Providing district wise details of the cases, they said, Jammu reported 22 cases, Udhampur 4, Rajouri 0, Doda 1, Kathua 3, Samba 7, Kishtwar 0, Poonch 1, Ramban 3, Reasi 0, Srinagar 61, Baramulla 30, Budgam 31, Pulwama 7, Kupwara 14, Anantnag 15, Bandipora 4, Ganderbal 5, Kulgam 19 and Shopian 2.

There were two deaths, both from Jammu division, due to the virus during the time. So far 4781 people have succumbed to the virus and among them include 2349 from Jammu division and 2432 from the Valley.

Besides, they said, 395 Covid-19 patients recovered during the last 24 hours—91 from Jammu division and 204 from Kashmir Valley. There are now 2001 active cases— 332 in Jammu and 1669 in Kashmir.

The officials said there was no new confirmed case of mucormycosis (black fungus) reported today. So far 51 black fungus cases have been confirmed in J&K, the officials said. Also 23355 doses of covid-19 vaccine were administered in J&K during the time, they added.
