Srinagar, Aug 17: Police have arrested President Municipal Committee Magam Budgam for issuing permission to construct a shopping complex in central Kashmir district without competence and grabbing required fee at the cost of state exchequer. The president Municipal committee Magam Ghulam Mustafa Mir has been booked for forgery, fraud and criminal breach of trust and the action followed a compliant received against him, a police officer said.

“On August 15 a written complaint was received from Executive officer Municipal committee Magam stating therein that President Municipal committee Magam Ghulam Mustafa Mir has issued building permission for the construction of 1st floor of shopping complex of one Mohammad Shafi Bhat of Yagipora Magam without any competence and misuse of chair and powers,” the officer said. The amount received by the President from Bhat as building fee has not been deposited in the Government exchequer, he said based on the contents of the complaint. “Instead, the amount has been grabbed by him causing loss to the State Exchequer.”

He said complaint also mentioned that no record regarding the building permission exists in the records of Municipal committee Magam.

“On receipt of this complaint, a case FIR no.120/2022 U/S 467, 471,409 IPC stands registered in Police Station Magam and investigation was taken up.”

During the course of investigation, he said, the accused Ghulam Mustafa Mir has been arrested and investigation is going on.
