12 kgs heroin worth Rs 24 cr recovered in Jammu, 3 persons held: Police

Srinagar, July 26: Police on Tuesday said that 12 Kgs of heroin worth Rs 24 crores in the international market and cash of Rs 11 lakhs were recovered by Jammu Police in Bahu Fort area of Jammu. Three peddlers were arrested in connection with the recovery, police said.

“Initial investigation points towards drugs being drone dropped from across the border,” ADGP Jammu Mukesh Singh (IPS) was quoted as saying in the statement.

“In a major success Jammu Police while working on a specific information has recovered 12 Kgs of heroin and cash approximately Rs 11 lakhs at a special naka established in the jurisdictions of PS Bahu Fort. The approximate value of drugs seized is around 24 crores in the international market”.

Giving details, ADGP Jammu said that Police team led by SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli (IPS), working on a tip off laid a special naka in the jurisdiction of PS Bahu Fort. The team was constituted under the supervision of SP South Mamta Sharma, SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari and was led by SHO of PS Bahu Fort Inspector Nayat Ali.

“Three suspects travelling in the Verna car bearing number PB02 CQ 7749 were rounded up and during their search 12 Kgs of heroin and cash Rs11,00,000 was recovered from them,” he saidIn this regard, he said, a case FIR (no. 197/2022) under section 8/21/22/27/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and 3 accused were arrested.

The y have been identified as Sarvwan Singh son of Kala Singh, Malkeet Singh son of Gurmeet Singh  and Balbir Singh son of Balbinder Singh, all residents of Amritsar.
