Srinagar June 10: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants and an associate in Baramulla and Budgam districts.

A police spokesperson said Police along with Army arrested two active militants of LeT in Baramulla.

“Acting promptly on a specific information, Police along with Army arrested two active (militants) of LeT identified as Irshad Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rehman Mir (a categorised militant) and Zahid Bashir son of Bashir Ahmad, both residents of Nehalpora Pattan area of Baramulla,” he said.

He said incriminating materials, arms of ammunition including two Chinese Pistols, 18 live rounds and two magazines have been recovered from their possession.

Earlier police said that a hybrid militant and an associate of the outfit were arrested in Budgam. He said acting on specific information, Police along with 62RR and 43Bn CRPF arrested the hybrid militant Mudabir Ajaz son of Ajaz Ahmed Rather of Gulshanabad Hyderpora and the associate as Syed Muntaha Mehraj son of Syed Mehrajudin of New Colony Ompora.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested duo was involved in providing transportation & logistic support to the LeT militants besides, transportation of arms & ammunition across the district Budgam,” he said in a statement.

“Incriminating materials, arms of ammunition including one Chinese grenade and 35 AK rounds have been recovered from their possession,” he said.

He said a a case (FIR No. 190/2022) under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and investigation has been initiated.
