CS-Led Committee Formed For Distribution Of Fortified Rice Under ICDS, Other Schemes

Srinagar, May 23: Government on Monday accorded sanction to the constitution of a Union territory level Steering Committee headed by Chief Secretary for effective implementation of distribution of fortified rice under ICDS/MDMS/PDS and scaling up of fortification of rice under these schemes.

The members of the Committee include administrative secretaries of Health & Medical Education Department, School Education Department, Transport Department, Social Welfare Department and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department besides representative of Food Corporation of India (FCI) to be nominated by CMD, FCI.

The terms of reference of the committee, among others, include ensuring coordination/monitoring with the line departments for effective implementation of distribution of fortified rice under ICDS/MDMS/PDS.

Beside the committee has been asked to periodically review the progress and provide inputs and suggestions on resolving the challenges and issues that may emerge during the process of implementation of the distribution of fortified rice these schemes.

The committee has been also tasked to help in scaling up of fortification of rice under ICDS/MDMS/PDS across Jammu & Kashmir through the concerned Departments.
