Pakistani Haidar, local militant trapped in Kulgam encounter, operation ongoing

Srinagar: Two militants including a Pakistani affiliate of proscribed Lashkar e Taiba outfit have been trapped in a gunfight in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.

Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar identified the holed up militants who are engaged in the firefight with forces after they were zeroed in.

“1 Pakistani terrorist (Haider) of LeT terror outfit & a local terrorist trapped in on-going encounter,” Kumar said.

According to IGP Haider was active in North Kashmir for more than 2 years.

“(He) is involved in several terror crimes,” said: IGP Kashmir.

Earlier encounter started at Cheyan Devsar area of Kulgam after forces launched anti militancy operation in the region.

Police and Army are conducting the operation.
