Srinagar: Lt. Gen. Vinod G. Khandare (retd.) has been appointed as Adviser in the Ministry of Defence.
Khandare will be providing strategic inputs and will be providing his advice on affairs relating to defence policy.
Official sources said that with his experience in Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim and northeast region he will also advice on preparedness
He will be putting his advice in international defence corporation, maritime security and defence space.
From November 2015 to January 2018, he served as both the Director General, Defence Intelligence Agency and the Deputy Chief in the Integrated Defence Staff for Intelligence
Khandare was the second Military Adviser in the History of the premier agency.
Reports said that Khandare will be working closely with the Defence Secretary.

A recepient of UN medal, Param Vishist Seva Medal, Ati Vishisit Seva Medal and Sena Medal (Gallantry), Khandare has served in 14th Battalion Garhwal Rifles, 100 Mountain Brigade, 19th Infantry Division.

Commisioned in September 1979 he has served for nearly four decades in varied terrains and operational roles in Siachen, Jammu and Kashmir, Sikkim and northeast region.
