Srinagar, Feb 23: Authorities on Wednesday urged people not to venture out unless absolutely necessary in view of the heavy snowfall in Kashmir Valley.
“In view of heavy snowfall, general public is appealed not to move out of their homes, unless it is absolutely necessary,” Aamir Ali, Nodal Officer, SEOC, Disaster Management, said. “Snow clearance machines of MED are clearing the snow mechanically in Kashmir Division and other allied departments including SMC are clearing snow manually from the main roads of Srinagar, since early morning, but due to continuous snowfall, the roads are very slippery and there are chances of accidents,” he said, adding, “In case it is absolutely unavoidable to move out then please wear warm and water proof clothes and grip shoes. Drive very carefully and do not apply sudden brakes, which can cause skidding. Do not overtake the vehicle in front of you. Use anti-skid snow chains on the car tyres.”
