Srinagar: A lady jumped in the river Jhelum  Qamarwari area of Srinagar, however swift action by locals saved her and retrieved her out.

Officials told Indian News Service that a lady (name withheld) had jumped into the river from Cement Kadal, Qamerwari.

As the locals saw her drowning they jumped in to save her and managed successfully to take her out of the river.

Jammu and Kashmir Police, Qamerwari reached the spot immediately and the said lady was taken in their custody.

“She is safe and her medical checkup is being conducted. Legal formalities will follow,” an official told INS.
