Prof Irshad Nawchoo is KU’s new Dean Research

Srinagar, Feb 7: Professor Irshad A Nawchoo from Kashmir University’s Department of Botany shall function as the varsity’s Dean Research.

Prof Nawchoo has more than two decades of teaching, research, and administrative experience. Besides being the author of several books and research articles published in top journals, Prof Nawchoo has held very important administrative positions in the University of Kashmir, including Controller of Examinations, Director Admissions and Competitive Examinations, Dean School of Biological Sciences, Head Department of Botany and Director Centre for Biodiversity and Plant Taxonomy.

Prof Nawchoo said he would work to strength the university’s research linkages with top-notch institutions in the country and abroad, even as he asserted that the Office of Dean Research shall strive to ensure maximum focus on multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research in line with the new National Education Policy-2020.

“Our focus at the university, in accordance with the directions of the honourable Vice-Chancellor, has been to provide all facilities to our young researchers for them to be able to do research that is socially-relevant,” Prof Nawchoo said, adding that the university shall also try to feed the knowledge and research generated in the institution into the policymaking in the Union Territory.
