Smart City Projects Should Be Concluded Within Five Years: KCC&I

Srinagar, Feb 2: Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, President, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry attended a Virtual Meeting of the Srinagar Smart City Advisory Forum (SSCAF) on Wednesday to discuss the various projects under Smart City Mission and to seek suggestions from other Committee members.
The meeting was conveyed by CEO Srinagar Smart City Limited, Athar Aamir Khan. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and Chairman Srinagar Smart City Limited, Mayor of Srinagar City Junaid Azeem Muttu and other heads of departments were amongst the attendees.
President, KCC&I while speaking on the subject said that from Last two to three years the pace of project work was slow due to Covid-19 and other restrictions but from last five months the administration is now making all efforts for the smart city projects to be grounded successfully, which is appreciable.
Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad said that it will be a dream come true to see Srinagar City as a model Smart City in future and wished that other Districts of valley would copy the successful model/s of smart cities in future.
Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad held detailed discussion on the ongoing and the newly taken up projects by Srinagar Smart City Limited. Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad while deliberating on the occasion suggested that more focus should be on the Smart Roads, Mobility & transport, Smart parking meters, Smart Grid stations, Sanitization Waste water management and solid waste, rain water flooding , street lighting , public servers, public information system, public safety engagement and security and Public communication etc.
“During the discussions every head of Department gave their valuable suggestions regarding the smart city projects. KCCI President Stressed on having better co-ordination among the various line Departments so the smart city Projects work is executed seamlessly.”
KCCI, President urged the administration that the smart city Projects should be concluded within five years. He also appreciated the efforts of the CEO Smart City Limited and other officials of smart city for their work and dedication towards the projects execution.
