NIA arrests 1 ‘OGW’ Arrested in Sopore

Srinagar, Dec 16: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried searches at four locations in Baramulla and Srinagar districts and arrested one person in connection with militancy related case.

The NIA said that NIA conducted searches at Barmulla’s Sopore area and Srinagar and arrested one Irfan Tariq Antoo of Kral Tang, Sopore.

“Investigation has revealed that arrested accused person is a (militant) associate/ OGW of  (militant) organisation and have been providing logistical and material support to (militants”, NIA said in a statement .

The case, NIA said, relates to conspiracy for undertaking violent (militancy) acts in J&K and other major cities including New Delhi,   by cadres of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM),Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) etc.

NIA said that it had registered the case as (RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI)) on 10 October 2021 and initiated the investigation. NIA has arrested 28 persons in the case till now, the agency said.

“Further investigation in the case continues.”
