Bank theft, burning of saw mill case solved, accused arrested

Rajouri: In a major success, Jammu and Kashmir police in Sunderbani police station of Rajouri district have solved the case of attempted theft in Canara bank Sunderbani and burning of a saw mill in sunderbani town area arresting two accused involved in this crime.

Rajouri police said that the incident took place in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when a saw mill caught fire and got damaged under mysterious condition and later it came to fore during spot examination that theft was attempted in Canara Bank and this saw mill was located adjacent to bank and unknown accused had broken the wall of the bank and with criminal intention entered into it with attempt to loot the cash and they also set ablaze the saw mill.

Taking cognizance of the matter and on the basis of written complaint, a case in FIR 103/2021 U/Ss 457, 380, 436, 511 IPC was registered in Sunderbani police station and Superintendent of Police Rajouri constituted an investigation team headed by Station House Officer Sunderbani under supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Nowshera and overall supervision of Additional SP Nowshera.

Setting investigation into motion soon after registering the FIR, the investigation team of police gathered some technical and human inputs and zeroed on two suspects and detained both of them.

Both of them during sustained interrogation and questioning confessed to this crime of house break, attempting robbery in Canara Bank besides setting ablaze the wood saw mill.

The accused are identified as Jal Shakti Department employee (PHE) Pushpinder Sharma son of Lt. Rattan Lal resident of Gag village of Sunderbani and Ankit Sudan son of Madan Lal resident of Thandapani Sunderbani.

Both these accused have been arrested in the case registered at Sunderbani police station and further investigation in the matter is going on.

The weapons of offence used by the criminals to break the wall of bank have also been recovered on their confession.
