A police official said that paramilitary forces informed concerned police that a Sub Inspector, Jai Naryan Singh, of 98 batallion complained difficulty in breathing during midnight and was taken to SDH Kupwara. However doctor’s declared him brought death on arrival, the official said. “Proceeding under 174 CrPC have been initiated,” the official added.

A senior doctor at the hospital told a local news agency that while postmortem examination will reveal the real cause of the death, “our provisional diagnosis is that he died due to MI (myocardial infarction—heart attack).”

“We have taken viscera for histopathology examination. The samples have been sent and final postmortem report will reveal the real cause of death. Our preliminary diagnosis suggests MI,” the doctor added.
