5 Militants Killed In 2 Gunfights In Shopian: Police

Srinagar, Oct 12: Police on Tuesday said that two unidentified militants were killed in a gunfight with joint team of police, army and CRPF at Feeripora area of Shopian. The firefight had ensured hours after the culmination of an overnight gunfight in the south Kashmir district’s Tulran area in which three militants were killed.

“Two unidentified (militants) killed. Operation (is) going on. Further details shall follow,”a police spokesman said in a tweet. The cordon-and-searches in the area were launched late last evening, sources said.

Earlier police said three militants were killed in the overnight gunfight with joint team of police, army and CRPF at Tulran area of the district.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar on official Twitter handle said that out of three militants killed; one has been identified as Mukhtar Shah of Ganderbal who he said shifted to Shopian after killing “one street hawker Virendra Paswan of Bihar.”
