Police Arrests Ashiq Mir, Associate of Kashmir Crown Editor Shahid Imran In Extortion Case

Srinagar, Aug 20: Police on Saturday arrested Ashiq Mir, one of the associates of Imran Ahmad Ganai (aka Shahid Imran), running social media page –Kashmir Crown—in connection with case of exhortation, officials said.
They said a case under IPC sections of 384 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered in Baramulla against Ashiq Mir. Confirming the arrest, a police official said that further investigations are underway. Official sources said that Rs one lakh “extortion money” has been recovered so far from him. However, they said, investigations are underway and details would be shared at appropriate time.
