Srinagar, Aug 17: Unknown gunmen, suspected to be militants, shot dead a BJP worker in Kukgam district of South Kashmir.

Official sources said that gunmen fired upon BJP worker, saffron party’s in-charge for Homshali Bugh constituency, outside his home from point blank range, resulting his instant death. He has been identified as Javid Ahmad Dar of Brazloo Jagir.

A team of police reached the spot to ascertain the facts.

“Terrible news from Kulgam. Javed Ahmed was gunned down in cold blood. I unreservedly condemn this terror attack & send my heartfelt condolences to Javed’s family and colleagues,” National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah said, adding, “May Allah grant him place in Jannat.”
