Jammu: Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and have arrested seven notorious criminals in the case.

According to police several complaints were lodged in Police station R S Pura regarding theft of electricity wires and other logistic material used in laying the electricity poles in different areas of Jammu, by some unknown thieves.

Subsequently a case FIR No. 131/2021 under section 379 IPC was lodged at Police station R S Pura and investigation was started.

“On this a special police teams of PS R S Pura under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan were constituted. The team led by SHO P/S R S Pura Inspr. Jai Pal Sharma did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV footages of the area and other technical aid finally rounded up seven suspects,” police said.

The arrested have been identified as:

1 Bojh Raj S/O Suraj Pal R/O Shanal Teshil Atroli Distt Aligarh
A/P Sehora Gangyal Jammu
2. Sonu Kumar S/O Raj Veer R/O Shanal Teshil Atroli Distt Aligarh
3. Harvinder Singh S/O Ganeshi Lal R/O 135/Bajhera Baland Slehr UP
4. Deepak Kumar S/O Dinesh Singh R/O Shanal Teshil Atroli Distt Aligarh
5. Mukesh Kumar S/O Sardari lal R/O Jhella Tehsil Tara Garh Pathankot Punjab
6. Vikas Gupta S/O Romesh Pal
R/O Nehru Nagar Pathankot Punjab.

Police said that one more accused namely Rohit Kumar Khokhar S/O Younis Massi R/O R S Pura was arrested in the above case and a different case FIR No. 137/2021 under section 379 IPC was registered against him.

“During sustained questioning accused confessed their involvement in the above cases and on their disclosure stolen bundles of wires in the above case along with 05 more stolen bundles were recovered from them,” police said.

Further investigation of the cases is going on.
