Kupwara: Police on Thursday apprehended a former cop following recovery of ammunition from him here in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Officials said that the accused Jahangir Ahmad Khan son of Ali Khan, a resident of Dildar Karnah, was apprehended during a checking at ‘NC Pass’ Post here. On his searches, the forces recovered illegally held seven rounds of 7.62 cartridges (6 live and one blank), one round each of pistol, AK-47 and 5.56 cartridge from his possession, the official sources told.

The accused police constable was already dismissed from services in year 2017, they said.

A case FIR number 62/21 under section 7/25 of Indian Arms Act has been registered into the recovery at Police Station Tangdhar and due investigations taken up, they added.
