Leh: Complete restrictions on weekends, passes withdrawn, offices to shift to virtual mode

Ladakh: Authorities on Saturday ordered that complete restriction will be imposed on weekends on all kinds of activities and the movement passes issued earlier stand withdrawn.

According to an order issued by the administration of Union Territory Ladakh no public dealing will be allowed in all government offices from 22 May 2021, and offices shall adopt virtual mode of meeting, avoiding any kind of physical meeting till further orders.

“There shall be complete restriction on weekends i.e saturday and sunday on all kind of activities, movements, including all government offices wef 7am of 22.5.2021,” the order reads.

It further instructed that employees and staff of various bodies including government employees shall be allowed to commute on production of valid Identity cards along with colour coded duty roster which shall be pasted on the front windscreen of the vehicle.

“All grocery, general stores, vegetable, fruit shops and stores, meat, chicken shops, fuel retailers, depots, milk, dairy product shops, bakeries and tyre puncture repair shops shall be allowed to open from 7 am to 11 am within the locality, with restriction on movement of shop owners and public from one locality to another, supply for whole sellers and distributers shall be allowed between 5 am to 8 am and their movement shall be allowed on production of valid trade license, registration certificate. No separate permission is required,” it said.

The orders have been passed ‘in light of continuous surge in covid cases, positivity rate and hospital admissions and of the clear view that extension of restriction is needed to avoid further spread of the corona virus.
