Minus 3.5°C In Gulmarg, Mercury Falls In Srinagar

Srinagar, March 26: With dry weather in store for at least end of this month, minimum temperature fell across Kashmir Valley barring Pahalgam and Kupwara, officials said on Friday.

A meteorological department official said that the mercury settled at 3.6°C against previous night’s 4.7°C in Srinagar, the summer capital of the J&K.

Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 4.0°C against 5.7°C  on the previous night, he said.

Mercury settled at minus 0.7°C against minus 1.5°C on the earlier night at Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 2.6°C against previous night’s 4.1°C, the official said.

The minimum temperature settled at 1.4°C in Kupwara against 0.7°C on the previous night, the official said.

Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded minimum temperature of minus 3.5°C, same as recorded on the previous night.

The meteorological department has forecast mainly dry from till March 31.

“There is no forecast of any major rainfall activity till ending March,” the official added.
