Srinagar, March 13: A gunfight has started between militants and government forces in Rawalpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

Reports said a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon and search operation in area amid specific information about the presence of the militants.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed exchange of firing between militants and security forces.

As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
