Ganderbal, March 9: Police on Tuesday said that a large quantity of illicit timber was seized by Police Station Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

“Acting on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal, a team of Police Station Gund led by SHO Police Station Gund Insp Lateef Ali under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan Syed Yasir Qadri seized a large quantity of illegally cut timber from the possession of one accused person Riyaz Ahamd Bajran Son of Mohd Rafiq Bajran of Village Hilpati Haknar Gund,” a Police official said

In this regard, he said that a case (FIR No. 11/2021) under section 379 IPC, 26 IF ACT has been registered at Police Station Gund and further investigation has been set into motion.

This is second time in the present month that Ganderbal Police has registered cases and recovered large quantity of illicit timber.

Speaking on the occasion SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal assured that the drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of Green Gold from the plunder.
