Srinagar, Mar 2: The weatherman on Tuesday forecast mainly dry weather this week even as the minimum temperatures dropped in south Kashmir and rose elsewhere in the Valley.

“Mainly dry weather is expected in both (J&K and Ladakh) till 6th March,” said Director meteorological department Sonam Lotus.

A meteorological department official said that Gulmarg, the venue for the ongoing second Khelo India Winter Games, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 4.5°C against minus 6.2°C on the previous night.

Srinagar recorded a low of 1.6°C against 1.4°C on the previous night.  The temperature was minus 0.6°C below the normal for this time of the year in this summer capital, the official said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 0.7°C against 4.0°C on the previous night while the mercury settled at minus 3.3°C at the famous resort of Pahalgam against 0.7 on the earlier night.

Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.1°C against 2.6°C on the previous night.

The minimum temperature settled at 1.1°C in Kupwara against 0.4°C on the previous night, the official said.
