Srinagar: Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir Valley with the outside world, was suspended on Saturday morning after heavy rains overnight triggered shooting stones and landslides in Banihal area of Ramban district, officials said.
The landslides prompted the authorities to shut the highway for traffic, they said.
Traffic was scheduled to ply from Jammu towards Srinagar today, they said.
They said traffic was stopped at several places including Ramban, Chanderkote, Udhampur and Nagrota. On Friday, highway was closed for weekly maintenance.
