Srinagar, Feb 3: Air traffic to and fro Kashmir Valley was affected with several flights already rescheduled on Wednesday amid light snowfall and poor visibility at Srinagar ‘international’ airport, officials said.
The good news for the travelers was that the runaway has been cleared and visibility has improved at the airport to allow the resumption of the flight operations, officials said.
Airport authorities in a series of tweets earlier informed that snow, mist and fog reduced visibility on the ground and in the air. “Snow and ice reduce braking action on runway which creates hindrance in flight operation,” they said, adding, “Snow clearance machines and all team of (airport) are putting efforts to resume flight operation as soon as possible. Keep in touch for all updates as well as do contact with relevant airlines for updates.”
While runaway has been cleared, the authorities have rescheduled at least seven flights but travelers have been advised to approach Airport before time. “The flight operation is resumed very soon,” the officials added.
