DC discusses ‘Action Plan’ for containment of ‘Avian Influenza’ at Shopian

SHOPIAN, FEBRUARY 01: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, SB Suse today convened a meeting of officers of Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) Shopian to discuss the Action Plan with regard to containment of Avian Influenza in the district.
The DDC directed the officers of AHD to be vigilant and proactive and regularly collect the random samples to be tested in labs.
He further directed the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO) Shopian, Dr. Ishrat to set up a Control Room for getting up to date information from the field and then pass it on to the higher authorities for further necessary action.
Suse directed the concerned officers to carry out awareness among masses without making them press the panic button.
The CAHO informed the Chair that eight (8) Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) and 15 Culling Teams have already been framed in the district so that any eventuality with regard to Avian Influenza is contained before time.
It was informed that Rapid Response Teams and Cullers have been equipped with PPE Kits, Sanitizers, Masks and Disinfectants. Besides, the teams have been directed to carry out the disinfection process in and around the suspected infected zones.
It was also informed that only two samples of dead crows have been lifted and dispatched to IAH & BP Zakoora, Srinagar for detailed screenings and the results are still awaited so far.
Among others Block Veterinary Officer, Keller, Poultry Extension Officer Shopian and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
