Poonch, Dec 27: Four persons including two brothers were arrested and six hand grenades were recovered in Poonch district last night, officials said on Sunday.
They said that army’s 49 RR and police’s SOG first apprehended brothers—Mustafa Iqbal and Murtaza Iqbal of Galhuta Gursai and they were interrogated at 49 RR battalion headquarters Basooni.
“During the interrogation, a suspicious conversation with a Pak number was found on the phone of Mustafa Iqbal, and later further questioning was conducted in which he admitted to have been tasked with throwing grenade at Hindu Temple at Ari, PS Mendhar. A video on how to use a grenade was also found in his phone,” SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said in a statement.
Upon their questioning, they revealed names of two other persons who were apprehended later.
“Later during search at Iqbal’s house six grenades and a few posters of J&K Ghaznavi Force were also recovered,” the officer said, adding, “Search is still ongoing and two more suspects have been picked up from village dabi on LoC in Balakote.”
The officer said that a case has been registered and further investigation taken up.
