Govt Orders installation of SSL certificate in all its websites, applications

Srinagar, Nov 27: Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday ordered installation of SSL certificate in all government websites and applications.
In this regard, the government has asked all Administrative Secretaries, HODs to direct the concerned in their departments or organizations to take measures for installation, renewal of SSL certificate in their respective websites and applications.
“Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has issued advisory for installation of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate in all the Government Websites/Applications. The SSL certificate increases the Privacy and Security of a website,” reads a government order.
“Furthermore, a padlock in the address bar in the browser indicates that website is secure and increases trust of citizens on the government websites,” it said, adding, “In compliance to advisory issued by MeitY, GoI all Administrative Secretaries/HOD1s are requested to direct the concerned in their departments/organizations to take measures for installation/renewal of SSL certificate in their respective websites/application.”
The CEO JaKeGA and SIO NIC, the government said, are requested to nominate an officer/official to facilitate all Government Departments/organizations for making the websites/application SSL certificate compliant.
