4kgs ‘Heroin-Like’ Substance Recovered In Poonch

Poonch, Nov 3: Police on Tuesday said that 4 kilograms of “heroin-like substance” was recovered from Dhargloon area of Mendher in Poonch district of Jammu region.
A police official said that a joint patrolling party of police along with SOG Mendher and army’s 39 and 49 RR conducted a search operation in Dhargloon area and during searches approximately 4 kg “heroin like substance” was recovered. He said that a case (FIR No.89/20) under sections 8/21/22 NDPS has been lodged in police station Gursai. “Investigation and search is continuing to probe its handlers and source,” the official said, adding, “Since the area lies near Line of Control, and evidences suggests to its trans-border smuggling links.”
Confirming the recovery, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said that the investigations are underway.
This is consecutive fourth big recovery of narcotics in this border area of district Poonch by police and army in last 20 days.
