Baseer Khan visits Tujjar Sopore; Inaugurates 6.3 MVA Power Receiving Station, inspects RDD works

Baramulla: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Baseer Ahmad Khan today paid visit to Tujjar Sharief village of Sopore area where he inaugurated 6.3 MVA power receiving station.
District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
The visit has been conducted as a sequel to public outreach programmes and part of government’s efforts for providing basic necessities to the people in a hassle free manner.
On the occasion, Chief Engineer KPDCL Aijaz Ahmad Dar briefed that the receiving station has been completed with a cost of Rs 3.54 crore which has the capacity of 6.3 MVA. He informed that the work has been completed within a short duration of 2 years and it will provide power supply to 4 major adjoining villages.
After inauguration, the Advisor inspected several developmental works taken up under RDD sector. He was briefed by the DDC and Director Rural Development Department about the current status of these works.
Baseer Khan directed the concerned agencies to ramp up the pace of work so that all the works are completed within the stipulated timeframe. He also stressed to mobilize additional men and machinery for achieving the desired results adding that several initiatives are being taken up in this regard.
Advisor directed for releasing all pending labour and other related payments among the workers as early as possible.
Meanwhile, Advisor paid obeisance at the famous shrine of Sheikh Hamza Makdoom (RA) where he prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of J&K.
The people there demanded construction of a park at the shrine wherein he directed the concerned authorities to work on the same so that the demand is fulfilled as early as possible.
Later, several deputations and delegations called on the Advisor and highlighted their grievances and demands meant for the overall welfare and development of the area. These delegations demanded declaring Tujjar Sharief as a Tourist Pilgrim resort, creation of development authority, upgradation and macadamization of vital roads, development of basic infrastructure in government institutions etc.
The delegation of Fruit Growers Association Sopore expressed gratitude and thanked Lieutenant Governor and administration for continuance of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for the current horticultural season.
The Advisor gave a patient hearing to the delegations and assured that all their genuine demands shall be taken up with the concerned authorities so that they are redressed in a time bound manner.
Director Tourism Kashmir, ADC Sopore, SP Sopore, ACD, SE PDD, Executive Engineer STD Sopore and various other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
