Jammu: Minister for Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali remained absent on Tuesday from State legislative assembly, presently in its Budget Session.
He has not attended the State Assembly since January 3 due to resentment over sitting arrangements made by the government’s Cabinet list without keeping the “seniority status” of Cabinet Ministers, MoS and MLAs.
Sources told INS that earlier the Minister was sitting in the second row but after the induction of some minister in the cabinet, his sitting arrangement has been changed by GAD Cabinet list.
“Zulfikar also informed Parliament Affairs Minister Abdul Rahim Veeri about the ‘serious issue’,” sources said.
They added: “The Assembly Secretary was also asked to persuade and pacify the Minister to attend the House proceeding but he (Zulfikar) denied attending the Assembly Session till the issue is not addressed. Later, the matter was forwarded to Parliament Affairs Minister Abdul Rahim Veeri who assured the Minister that it will be sorted out amicably.”
When contacted, Parliament Affairs Minister Abdul Rahim termed it a “small issue”.
“We will sort it out and he (Minister) will definitely attend the assembly proceeding from tomorrow,” he said.
