Srinagar, Oct 18: A paramilitary CRPF and a civilian were injured in a grenade blast in Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday, officials said.
“Today at about 1130 hours, Awantipora police received information about an incident at Sumo Stand Tral area of Awantipora where (militants) hurled a grenade upon joint deployment of Police and CRPF,” a police spokesman said.
“Senior police officers reached at the terror crime spot. Preliminary investigation revealed that (militants) had hurled a grenade upon joint deployment of Police and CRPF at Sumo Stand Tral area of Awantipora in which one CRPF personnel identified as Asim Ali of 139 BN CRPF got injured. In this incident one civilian identified as Mehraj-ud-Din Sheikh also received minor injuries,” he said, adding, “Both the injured have been evacuated to nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries.”
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law, the spokesperson said. “Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. Area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on.”
