Srinagar, Oct 07: Two militants were killed in an overnight encounter in Sugan area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Wednesday.
They however said that the identity of the slain was not ascertained so far.
The encounter had ensued after a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter, they said. The operation was suspended late night due to darkness and resumed with the first light this morning, they added.
