Srinagar, Sept 22: One unidentified militant was killed as the overnight gunfight in Charar-e-Shareef area in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday. An army soldier was injured in the initial gunfight with militants last evening, officials said. The operation was suspended owing to darkness while mobile internet services in the entire Budgam district were snapped by the authorities. “One unidentified (militant) has been killed. The operation is going on. Further details shall follow,” police tweeted. The gunfight ensued ater a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in the area amid specific information about the presence of militants.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter, they said.
