Srinagar, Sept 17: Three militants and a woman were killed in a gunfight in Batamaloo area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Thursday.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that three militants were killed and their gunfight and their identity couldn’t be ascertained yet.
Earlier, a 45-year-old woman identified as Kounsar Riyaz of Batamalo was also killed in “cross firing” and a Deputy commandant of 117 battalion of CRPF identified as Rahul Kumar was injured, and subsequently shifted to 92 Base hospital for treatment.
Earlier, a joint team of Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Batamaloo.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
