Gunfight breaks out in Shopian

Srinagar: A gunfight between militants and government forces broke out in Chitragam Mulu area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Wednesday.
According to the reports, a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Mulu.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
A senior police officer said the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants was going on. Reported one militant was killed in the initial exchange of fire but the official confirmation is awaited.
