4G Internet To Be Restored In Ganderbal, Udhampur From 9 p.m. Tonight

Srinagar, Aug 16: The authorities are restoring 4G internet services in Ganderbal and Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir tonight.
Official sources said that the high speed internet is being restored in Ganderbal district of the central Kashmir at 9 p.m. tonight.
“Whereas, the Special Committee, continued in terms a order dated 11.52020 of the Supreme Court in case tilled “Foundation for Media Professionals vs. UT of J&K and others held its third meeting on August 10,” reads the order issued by Home Department.
“in context of the conclusions drawn and the parameters laid down by the
Special Committee for considering calibrated easing of restrictions in limited and
comparatively less sensitive geographical areas, the law enforcement agencies, while
furnishing fresh inputs relating to the present security scenario in the UT of J&K, have
identified the districts of Ganderbal (Kashmir Division and Udhampur (Jammu Division) for
lifting restrictions on high speed mobile internet connectivity on trial basis and these
recommendations are found to be in conformity with the law laid down as also the conditions
set by the Special Committee,” the order reads, adding, “ Now, therefore, I, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department, being satisfied that, it is absolutely necessary so to do, in the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the Security of the Stale and for maintaining public order, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 5 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885 read with sub-rule 11) of rule 2 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services {Public Emergent} or Public Safety) Rules 2017 hereby direct as under that Mobile internet Services that the high speed mobile data service in the districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur .shall be restored forthwith, on trial basis, while in rest of the districts, the internet speed shall continue to be restricted m 2G only.”
