Srinagar: Police on Wednesday detained ten PSOs deployed for the security of the BJP leader, former president of the party for Bandipora, under Police Act. The BJP leader Wasim Bari, his father Bashir Ahmad and his brother Umer Bashir were seriously injured when militants fired upon them outside their shops and residence in Muslimabad area of Bandipora.
All the three injured persons were shifted to hospital but they succumbed to their injuries, police said.
“Pertinently the deceased was a protected person and 10 policemen were deployed for his security but none was kept along by him at the time of incident,” a police spokesperson said, adding, “Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law.” Investigations are in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this incident, he added. “Why he was without any security at the time of incident is also being investigated. The men deployed for his security (have been)  detained for negligence under Police Act,” he said.
