213 test positive, J&K covid-19 tally rises to 6762

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday reported 213 fresh coronavirus infections, taking the number of the covid-19 patients in J&K to 6762. 58 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu and remaining from the Valley and included several paramilitary forces, pregnant women and 34 travelers.
Giving the district wise break-up of the cases, officials said that Baramulla recorded 63 cases followed by Udhampur (40), Pulwama (23), Shopian (18), Kupwara (17), Budgam (11), Srinagar (10), seven each in Kulgam and Rajouri, five each in Anantnag and Kathua, Reasi (3), Pooch (2) and one each in Bandipora and Samba.
Sources said that among the cases, at least 74 were confirmed at SKIMS Soura, 70 at CD and 13 at SKIMS Bemina.
Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS said that out of 2653 samples processed at the viral diagnostic lab today, 74 returned positive for the virus.
Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, said that among them, 24 are from Pulwama, 18 from Shopian, nine from Baramulla, six each from Anantnag and BSF/CRPF Battalions, five from Kulgam, two from Srinagar and one from Kupwara.
Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told GNS that out of 590 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 13 tested positive for COVID-19, all from Budgam.
Moreover, officials said, 113 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 35 from Jammu Division and 78 from Kashmir Division.
