Gunfight rages in Srinagar outskirts, internet snapped

Srinagar: A gun battle has started between militants and large posse of police and CRPF at Zunimar area of Soura in the outskirts of Srinagar on Sunday.
Reports quoting officials said that the gunfight broke out when the joint team zeroed in on a target house in Pozwalpora Zunimar, there was firing from militants hiding there. The fire was retaliated, triggering off encounter, he said.
“Encounter has started at Zadibal Soura area of Srinagar. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
When this report was filed, intermittent firing could be heard from a distance. Also, mobile internet services were stopped in this summer capital of the J&K. Authorities says it has been done as a precautionary measure to prevent protests.
