Srinagar: A fierce gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
Reports said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 34 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Likhdipora.
As the joint team approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
“Encounter has started at Likhdipora area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job,” police said in a tweet. “Further details shall follow,” it added.
