Srinagar: Two days after his death, test reports of a 55-year-old man from Baramulla district returned positive for novel coronavirus in Kashmir Valley on Thursday. His death has taken the fatality count due to the deadly disease to 27 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Salim Khan, nodal officer for COVID-19 at the Government Medical College Srinagar, said that the 55-year-old man was referred from GMC Hospital Baramulla with fever, respiratory distress on May 27 to SMHS Hospital Srinagar.
“Patient expired within hours of admission. His sample tested positive for SARS COV-2 (COVID-19) today,” he added.
With the fatality, the death toll due to the virus has gone upto 5 in Baramulla and overall 27 in J&K. So far Srinagar district has highest number of the fatalities—7 followed by Anantnag and Baramulla with five deaths each, Kulgam has reported four while Budgam and Jammu have two each and one death each has been reported from Bandipora and Udhampur.
