Heroin, Charus Seized As Police Arrests 3 Drug Peddlers

Kupwara: Police have arrested three “notorious” drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession in Handwara area of this north Kashmir district.
“Officers at a checkpoint established at Ganapora Crossing intercepted an individual identified as Danish Farooq Mir of Nowpora Tujjer-Shareef. During search officers were able to recovered 50gms of Heroin from his possession,” a police spokesman said. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kralgund where he remains in custody, the spokesman said.
Similarly, officers at a checkpoint established at Batgund crossing intercepted a truck (JKO9B-4743) with two persons on board, he said. “They have been identified as Abdul Rouf Bukhari and Shabir Ahmad Malik both residents of Haril Mawar. During search officers were able to recover 500gms of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Qalamabad where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.”
Cases (FIR numbers 66/2020) and (51/2020) under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Kralgund and PS Qalamabad respectively, he said. “Further investigation into the cases has been initiated.”
